Allah’s anger

Question:

Is it wrong to believe that Allah is angry with you? for the sins that you commited.

Answer:

It is not wrong, because the Prophet (s) used to constantly seek forgiveness from Allah swt, whereas he had no sins whatsoever and was the perfect exemplar to the Ummah. We recite in our salat 17 times daily at a minimum, sirat alladheena an`amta `alayhim ghayri ‘l-maghdoobi `alayhim wa laa daalleen, The path of those whom Thou hast favored; Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.

For one does not know if one’s …[worship] will be accepted, so that one will find favor with God, or whether it will be rejected, leaving one among those He abhors. This is how one should be at the end of any act of worship one performs.  [Al-Ghazali, Inner Dimensions of Islamic Worship, Edited 12/99]
