is not wanting another Muslim to go to Jannah sinful?

Question:

Is being selfish and greedy sinful? This other Muslim man told me in the face that he wants me to go to hell. I do not want to go to Jannah anymore but yet I still do. Is that selfish and greedy of me to desire Jannah? Whenever I desire Jannah I feel guilt.

Answer:

Being selfish and greedy is sinful. Desiring Jannah is not selfish nor greedy, though desiring someone to go to hell, in the doctrine of the Sufis, is.

Jannah is the reward of goodness so why feel guilty? Allah says:

{Could the reward of good be aught but good? Which, then, of your Sustainer’s powers can you deny? And besides those two will be yet two [other] gardens.} (Surat ar-Rahman, 55: 60-62)

Ask Allah to make us deserving of Jannah, in spite of our deeds. But further yet, may Allah be pleased with us.
