Dream: Rasul Allah (Salallahu ‘Alaihi wa Salam)

Dream:

Salam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,

A few months ago, I recited the dua to see Rasul Allah (Salallahu ‘Alaihi wa Salam) in a dream. I then had a dream where I saw a man sitting cross legged and behind him was an enormous light that was glowing. From that light, came forth more light and entered the body of that person. I then saw different creation coming forth such as galaxies and more light. His hair was neither straight nor curly, but perfect and I could not see his face.

I heard a voice saying that “There was not a sitting where I did not say istighfar 100 times.” When I woke up, I thought it was Prophet (Salallahu ‘Alaihi wa Salam) whom I saw, but I am very shy and afraid to make that claim. Did I really see him (Salallahu ‘Alaihi wa Salam) in my dream?

Thank you, Wasalam.

Interpretation:

Bismillahi ‘r-Rahmani ‘r-Rahim
Allahumma Salli `ala Sayyidina Muhammad wa Ahili wa Sahbihi Ajma’in

As-Salamu `Alaikum,

Mabruk and Tuba to you. Al-Bukhari reported that the Prophet (s) said:

من رآني في المنام فقد رآني حقاً فإن الشيطان لا يتمثل بي

Someone who saw me in a dream has in fact seen me, for Shaytan cannot take my image.

This hadith proves that it is possible to see the Messenger (s) in a dream and what is seen in the dreams are often his (s) attributes in which he was blessed with from Allah. Like his (s) light in which all things are created from. As it is related from what is known as the Jabir hadith which was reported and supported by many ulama‘s collections, that the first thing that was created was his (s) light. And what issued from that light was all of creation, even before the pen and the tablet. So what you’ve witnessed is a small manifestation of that reality. For Allah shows his realities from the horizons and within ourselves.

In addition to the above, some hadiths continues with the wording “and he will soon see me” and some with the wording “and he will soon see me in this world.” Some ulama said that this means he will see the Messenger (s) before he leaves this world. But we don’t limit the blessing of this hadith like the others when they say it means that the person who had the dream will only see the Messenger (s) only after his death. This is limiting the baraka of the dream because in fact, the whole ummah will already see him (s) on the Day of Judgement. We say yes, we will see him (s) then also, but because of Salawat, our love for him (s) and of the baraka our Shaykh to see him (s) in our dreams, inshallah we will see him (s) before we leave this dunya.

And Allah knows best.
Peace and blessing on the Prophet and His Family.

Fatihah.
