My mother’s Istikhara for my marriage

Question:

AoA

My mother did an istikhara about a girl (from my country) whom I met once with the prospect of an arranged marriage. I was not sure as I was interested in another girl (a non-Muslim from a different country who is passionate about her personal quest to find the truth about God and religion).

My mother had been doing the istikhara for 3 days when she saw a dream. She was going somewhere holding a mast with our countries flag when she realized that she had lost the flag somewhere on the way and was left carrying the mast only. She remembered that she had placed another flag in the top shelf of my younger brothers closet and returned to get it. While she was putting the flag on the mast it tore a little but she stitched it.

Could you please offer some insight on this?

Answer:

Flag represents tradition, which your mother upholds but more successfully in your brother’s case (despite difficulty) than in yours, and Allah knows best.
