Question:

Salaam ya Mashaykh,

My wife and I argue with each other from the first time we married until now (almost 7 years). Sometime we have beautiful moments with our 2 children. My wife asks a divorce every time we fight/argue. She always insult me and disparages me.

I don’t want a divorce as I thought about my kids.

Now She went back to her parent’s house while I’m working at the office and brought my 2 kids.

What should I do, yaa Mashaykh?

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) said the strong person is the one who controls his anger. Recite ya Haleem x100 daily and ya Wadud x100 daily for more love and peace in the family.

I have decided on surgery but it all depends on my general health as I have undergone a heart by-pass operation a few years ago plus having asthma, mascular wasting etc.

Question:

Asalamu Alaykum,

I have come from a Buddhist background. I have studied Buddhism very deeply and was even a monk for a time.

We are a consciousness within a housing of matter. Highly spiritual people have the phenomenon of physicality to become almost ‘matter less’, in fact Aisha was asked about the Holy Prophet PBUH and she mentions that his body was “as light”.

I have met people who say they remember previous lives, I have met Tibetan Lamas who are reincarnations.

So, my problem is, can this be explained within Islam? We are ultimately light not matter. Even within Buddhism this is rarely as a self less act. Why would a consciousness stay in the grave?

I hope you can help me with this, it’s really my last hurdle.

Yours,

Salaams

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Matter is neither the origin nor the end in Islam, and our pristine creation is indeed from light. Read my book “The Muhammadan Light” which is dedicated to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (Allah bless his secret) and his deputy Mawlana Shaykh Hisham (Allah bless his secret).

Question:

Asalamulaikum,

I wanted to know what is the correct belief of appointing a khalifah?

Is there a hierarchy system meaning that not any one can be appointed, only those of the bloodline of the Prophet (saw)? Are royal families acceptable in Islam (since all I see is that this causes a big gap between the wealthy and poor). In Islam, are we all classed equal as brothers and sister and not divided by tribes, caste systems and certain family lineages? Since Abu Bakr (ra) was elected by people and Umar (ra) was appointed by Abu bakr (ra), does that been both ways of becoming khalifah were the best ways? I don’t understand why we had khalifahs in the past only because there fathers were khalifahs (sultanate) such as in the Ottoman Empire?

Could you please clarify.

Jazakallah khair

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

The khilafa rashida (first four plus al-Hasan, ‘Umar b. Abd al-Aziz
and Mu’awiya b. Yazid) were truly well-guided caliphates after the
Prophetic model, and a few rare other ones. As for the rest they were
only relatively good because they were degraded models but better than
what came later, and the latter was still better than nothing.

Question:

Dear Shaykh,

I am a married woman who loves my husband dearly. However, I still find myself thinking and fantasizing about other men. I know this is completely wrong. What can I do to stop this?

Also, when we are engaging in sexual intercourse, it is difficult for me to be in the ‘moment’. Sometimes I have to think about another man which I know is very wrong.

What can I do?

I have recited plenty of ‘Ya Wadud’.

Please advise.

Answer:

Fill your thoughts with dhikr and they will lift you upwards in sha
Allah. Think of Allah and His gift through your husband, you will be
in the moment.
