Is Technology Forbidden?

Question:

Hello. I asked this question on yahoo and sadly the responses were mostly form immature people that hates Islam and said some crude things. I know sadly that most Muslims are uneducated due to false information and ignorance when true Islam wants knowledge and my question is that is technologly haram like using washing machine, vacuum something that the last Prophet peace be upon him didn’t have. I think I know the answer but people are thinking about this question too due to actually worshiping culture rather than real religion. Using technology that makes life easier and faster done for work forbidden in Islam? If so, whether yes or no give me proof. Thanks

Answer:

Narrated Aisha (r.a.): Allah’s Apostle said, “If somebody innovates something which is not in harmony with the principles of our religion, that thing is rejected.”

The hadith is clear. Any technological innovation and advancement designed to make life easier is in line with the spirit of Islam and  can not be rejected. It is rather permissible and encouraged.
