Yoga

Question:

Assalamu alaikum.

May Allah Almighty grant our beloved Master, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim long life and continued success and support to Mawlana Shaykh Hisham in his mission.

Is practising Yoga permissible if it is done purely for its health benefits? I understand that it is gaining in popularity in many Muslim countries because it helps to maintain a healthy body but also that it has been declared haraam by certain scholars because of its Hindu origins. I would be very grateful for your opinion.

Many thanks to all the eshaykh team for this very helpful website.
