Someone recently told me that Salahudin banned Mawlid celebrations when he conquered Egypt from the Fatimids in the late 12th century AD, is this true? If so, then why did he do it? Thank you very much for taking the time to answer.

To our knowledge he increased those celebrations and also ordered muezzins to add loud salawat after every adhan in all Egypt and the Levant.
