Is kafarah required?

Question:

بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
asalamu ‘alaikum. This past ramadan we traveled the last friday to celebrate ‘Eid with sh Hisham. After the fajr prayer I slept, and half-awakened i mas**ed. I continued fasting, since I didn’t do it consciously. I don’t know if my fasting is valid. I fasted another Friday to pay for it. Should I fast two months? It happens to me almost every night, half-asleep. I have to do ghousl almost every night to be in ritual purity for fajr. I blow on myself ikhlas and mu’adathain, and recite Waqiah, still I do always the same thing. Could you recommend me something to prevent it, while waiting to get married? Thank you.

Answer:

Wa `alaykum salam,

Any Muslim having a wet dream while fasting or in a state of ihram (Hajj or Umrah), is not sinful and does not have to offer expiation (kaffarah). It does not break his/her fast, but has to do ghusl to cleanse him/herself from janabah (impurity) if semen emitted.
Get married as soon as possible, in sha Allah.
