Various Questions

Question:

Asalaamu Alaykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barrakaatu,

If I may I would like to ask a few brief questions.

Q: To distinguish the time for Tahajjud salat we try to pray in the last 3rd of the night (I understand this), but to calculate this do we calculate the hours from Maghrib until Fajr & then divide into 3, or do we calculate from Isha (Shafi`i Isha) until Fajr & then divide by 3?

Q1: I do not doubt my Murshid in any way, but when I was reading al-Maqasid of Imam Nawawi (Sh.Nuh translation) it mentions that a Shafi`i should offer his Isha no more than 50 – 70 minutes after the Maghrib prayer, & that most prayer calendars are determined for Hanafi time & that Isha for Shafi`i is before this. I have not heard this before I just want this confirmed by some one else before i implement this. Also which would be better 50 minutes or 70 minutes – OR play safe and make it 60 minutes? (But for easiness would 50 min be OK & global positioning would this make a difference).

Q2: Is it permissible for husband and wife to have intercourse straight after the wife finishes her hayd with out her making ghusl as long as she washes the area very thoroughly first, and then she make the ghusl after the intercourse, (other wise she makes ghusl then intercourse and straight away ghusl again, not only can this become costly but my wife also suffers ailments where she should not wet her body to often unless needed). Is this sinful , makruh or haram?

Q4: I was once told that making ghusl by simply using a detachable shower head & hosing oneself down completely with out rubbing (except head, face, ears, genitals, buttocks etc) but simply hosing ensuring that all body parts or wet and saturated is sufficient is this correct? (although I do realize is not the complete Sunnah method/but due to water restrictions,or costs etc).

Q5: I have come across various methods etc, but what is the correct manner to calculate fidya for missed fasting during Ramadan? (IN accordance to fiqha etc).
