Question:
AsSalaamuAlaikum Sheikh,
I have a relative who are not poor but a middle class family. Their son, who is a student, is diagnosed with blood cancer and the cost of treatment is so much that they can’t afford it.
I am doubtful in giving them zakat. My confusion is that If they spent all their money in the treatment including selling the car and most things EXCEPT the house they are living in, they will still not be able to pay for that treatment. But right now they have money that is above nasab value.
In this case, can I pay them zakat? In case NOT allowed to the patient’s father, can I give zakat to the actual patient because he is a student and has no money of his own?
