Limited participation in tariqah

Question:

Assalamualykum Wa Rahmatullah,

My husband doesn’t like me to be on the computer – so I can only listen to suhbas every now and then; not on a regular basis. Please I ask forgiveness I am not complaining. My husband is a good man – it is just that his tariqat doesn’t want murids to be on computers or tv and he applies it to his family. Alhamdulillah. I don’t have Naqshbandi dhikr gatherings in my area either. I hope my limited participation is okay. I am worried because I read that ‘our way is association…’

Thank you.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

If your husband allows you to watch only once or twice a week, that is fine and a great blessing already. One of the superiorities of the Naqshbandi Way is that the connection with the Shaykh is always there whether you realise it or not. There are many followers who do not have access to the Suhbahs at all due to various reasons, however the Shaykh has the power to watch over you even if you don’t see him. Keep your love for Mawlana Shaykh Nazim and you’ll be OK.
