hair of the prophet ( saw )

Question:

My mother was given a strand of the blessed hair. We’ve reserved a room for it and do nothing but prayers there.
Is it correct that the blessed hair multiplies and grows over time? I’ve heard contradictory replies. Is it true they do not have a shadow?

Answer:

Since the time of the Prophet, relics have played an important role in the history of Islamic civilization. According to hadith reports in Bukhari and Muslim, the Prophet (saws) cut his hair upon completing his hajj and instructed Abu Talha to distribute one share of hair each to his male companions, and Abu Talha’s wife Ummu Sulaym to distribute two shares to the women.

Ahmad ibn Hanbal recorded a hadith report that not a single hair fell from the Prophet’s head that was not collected immediately by his followers.
