Jumma Khutba

Question:

Asalam o Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatu,

My question is:

1) What is the correct method or way of sitting during Jumma sermon/khutba?
2) Please also clarify if there is difference in the position of hands in the first and second khutba?
3) If during Salat the Wudhu of Imam breaks, what should be done in that case if leading the salat i.e. Imam?

Any references provided will be greatly appreciated. May ALLAH SWT reward you and all the righteous and Muslims and forgive them and elevate their status.

Jazak ALLAH!

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

1. As khateeb takes his place on the minbar, a second adhan is called. The khateeb delivers two parts of his khutbah, sitting in between briefly. The first part is longer. (This is for khateebs)

2. Some scholars maintain that ‘it is mustahabb (desirable) to sit during the Khutbah like one sits in the final sitting of Salah. (This is for attendees)

3. If the wudhu of the Imam breaks in Salat, then he is to come out of Salat and restart it after renewing his wudhu.
