Ja`far means a little river, but it can also mean a bigger river, and it may mean an animal ready to provide its milk. In other words it is the flow of sustenance that Allah has provided us with. It is not from us but from Allah Almighty. In the realm of Saints, Sayyidina Ja`far as Sadiq represents the meeting of the Golden Chain’s links through Sayyidina Abu Bakr and Sayyidina Ali, may Allah be pleased with all of them. Insha-Allah the meaning, as it pertains to you may be revealed to you by your Shaykh when you are ready. May Allah guide us closer to Him.
