Question:
Assalamu alaykum,
Is it allowed for children of the same gender to sleep together on a bed under the same blanket? until what age is it okay to do so? Is it okay for them to sleep on the same bed but use different blankets?
Is it okay for adults (women) to do so? In case, we have unexpected visitors and run short on bedding; can mother and adult daughter do so? Or unrelated women?
Thank you.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa`id Khudri Radiallahu Anhu, reported from his father:
The Prophet of Allah Sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam said: “A man should not see the private parts of another man, and a woman should not see the private parts of another woman, and a man should not lie with another man under one covering, and a woman should not lie with another woman under one covering” (Sunan Abu Dawud p.201 v.2, Sahih Muslim and Musnad Ahmad)
A man is not allowed to sleep with another man or a woman is not allowed to sleep with another woman under the same blanket without a barrier, i.e. both being naked. If they are dressed or covered they are allowed to sleep under the same blanket but to refrain from such practices is preferable.
