Prayer Request: For Peace in our Family

Request:

Asalaamu Alaikum dear Mashaykh,

I am having a really difficult time with my in laws. They expect us to come visit them every day, but treat us terribly. They never have a pleasant word for us. Being in their presence is draining. I’ve never reacted to their snide remarks or been disrespectful. I encourage my husband to nafaqah them but it’s never enough. All I want is freedom to live life in peace, and regain some balance but it seems impossible unless I cut myself from them completely, which is unfair to my husband and children. We have considered moving to be closer to my family in the UK who are more supportive but my husband is worried about the risks of moving so far and starting over. Please pray for us, give me something to recite to make it easier, and some advice if possible.

May Allah bless you.

Response:

Wa’alaykumussalam,

Insha Allah, Shaykh Hisham will pray for your ease. Recite Yaa Haleem Yaa Lateef 100x each.Your husband has to decide whether he wants to move upon due diligence of all situations weighed in favour of that. Granted that all married couples prefer their own space and peace, do consider that your husband still has responsibilities towards his living parents, so to be in proximity with them would help. Your responsibility is chiefly to him alone. Patience and tolerance of the wife merit rewards abundant.
