Can saints get wilaya without Prophet (s)

Question:

Salaam alaykum..
1. I wanted to know if it is possible to become a wali and ‘skip’ out the Prophet alayhi salaato wa salaam

2. Is it possible for someone to become a wali WITHOUT the permission of the Holy Prophet salallahualayhiwasalam

3. And is it possible for someone to become a wali without the Holy Prophet alayhisalaato wasalaam knowing?
Because I was reading this: http://naqshbandi.org/suhba/shmk/pearls_n_coral/rajab.html and I became a bit confused on some parts such as: ”I do not care for the month of the Prophet (s)’, and ‘ .’ The Prophet (s) answered, ‘O Abu Bakr (s), I am even more surprised than you. I am waiting for Gabriel (s) to come and inform me of what has happened.” and ‘The Prophet (s) asked her, ‘What kind of seclusion did he do?”
Jazakallah Khayr

Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
As mentioned in another recent reply, without the second half of shahada one’s religion is incomplete therefore no, it is not possible to “become a wali and ‘skip’ out the Prophet alayhi salaato wa salaam.” How on earth can he be ‘skipped’ when all existence would not exist were it not for his sake? Likewise, no for the second and third questions, since their scenario is also contradicted by too much evidence, notably the following two hadiths:

“Allah Most High is the giver and I am the distributor;”

and

“The Prophet was among us [speaking]. For each prayer, he came down [from the minbar], prayed, and returned to his place. He told us about all that would take place from that very moment until the Rising of the Hour. There is no leader of one hundred people or more, whether misguided or guided, except the Messenger of Allah named him for us. Whoever remembers, remembers, and whoever forgot, forgot.”

Whatever else one might suppose, it may be because the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) always spoke of himself in humble terms, unless ordered to disclose something of his own station, such as in the hadith “I am the master of all human beings beginning with Adam and whoever comes after him” — yet even then he added: “and I do not say this to boast” (wa-la fakhr).

Whatever the case, we should also say: Allah knows best and His Prophet knows best.

Was Grandshaykh Khalid al-Baghdadi Shia?

Question:

Assalam u alayekum !
Shaykh Khalid Al Baghdadi (May Allah santify his secret ) memorized the books of Twelve Imams and he stayed in the school of isna ahriyaa.
Source: http://naqshbandi.org/chain/31.htm
And I read or heard in one of sohbats earlier this year that Shaykh Khalid Al Baghdadi QaddasAllahu sirrahu’l aziz ordered his murids to go to Makkah and do ba’yat of Syedna Al Mahdi Alaye he salam. Do these facts point out that Syedna Khalid Al Baghdadi was a follower of isna ashri school of thought and particularly his views about the appearance of Syedna Al Mahdi Alaye hi salam were those of isna ashri’s (because he ordered his murids to go there). It is to be noted that Maulana Jami wrote about the birth and disappearance of Syedna Al Mahdi Alaye hi salam in one of his books!

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
Ithna `Ashariyya books are not “the books of the Twelve Imams” but rather books compiled much later and containing many things they themselves never said.

It is possible Hadrat Mawlana Khalid (Allah sanctify his secret) may have memorized such books in order to refute them, as he was fluent in Persian as well as Arabic and he was extremely active in teaching the path of Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jama`a through his travels, books, teaching, sermons, and letters. Biographers and students of his said he became hugely famous as a brilliant debater against Ithna `Asharis in Tehran, Shiraz, Rayy, Asfahan, and elsewhere, and he always defeated them. Many times they ambushed him physically and tried to kill him. One of his poems in which he lambasted them is reproduced in full in al-Khani’s al-Hada’iq al-Wardiyya (transmitted from his grandfather directly from Mawlana Khalid) which is the main source Mawlana Shaykh Hisham (Allah sanctify his soul) used for the passage you quoted.

That same source also mentions that Mawlana Khalid’s teacher Hadrat Mawlana `Abd Allah al-Dihlawi (Allah sanctify his secret) “told him to meet the author of the Tuhfa Ithna `Ashariyya which is a unique sourcebook for the refutation of the Rawafid, the aged Shaykh Mawla `Abd al-`Aziz al-Hanafi al-Naqshbandi the son of Shaykh Waliyyullah.” He did meet Shah `Abd al-`Aziz and it is well-known he took ijaza from him. (In the early nineties Turkey’s Wakf Ihlas reproduced and distributed the Tuhfa Ithna `Ashariyya far and wide but it is reading for specialists of heresiology, not the common public.)

As for the passage that says “he stayed in the school of Ahsa’iyya Isfahaniyyah,” it was a Sunni school in Baghdad and not as suggested; many of Mawlana Khalid’s murids came from al-Ahsa’ and a few from Najd as well. In fact he transcends our Silsila and was one of the staunchest and most impressive Ahl al-Haqq in Islamic history, to the point they called him the Renewer (Mujaddid) of the 13th century.

And Allah knows best.

Prayer Request: Dua for happiness

Request:

Assalamualaiykum respected Sheikh,
Mowlana I am suffering from stress and sadness in my life. I feel as if everything is going wrong. My family is also upset too due to my sister’s choice of marriage. I also feel lost for grounds as I feel I’m backing away from Islam. Please pray that my family is filled with happiness and barkath.

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham will pray for you and your family.

The Holy Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) said that recitation of the following du`a will change sadness into happiness:

Allahumma inni `abduka
wabnu `abdika wabnu amatik
nasiyati bi-yadik

as’aluka bi-kulli ismin huwa lak
sammayta bihi nafsak

Dream: Istikhara with colors

Dream:

Salam alaikum
When I pray istikhara I ask specifically that the answer be shown in my dream and that it be shown with colours. It is not the only way, but it is clear, I ask that a positive answer to my question be answered with white or green. A negative answer answered with black or red. This intention is added into the dua for istikhara.
My question is I repeated istikhara 4 nights in a row and saw in the first night the person I prayed for dressed in green, the second night I saw the person dressed in red, the third night I saw the colour black and on the fourth night I saw black/red. I am confused as to what colour or dream to follow? Do I follow the first one or count the colours and go with the colours I saw the most?

Jazakallah

Interpretation:

wa `alaykum salam,

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham always said to follow the first inspiration.

Concentration in Prayers

Question:

I was born a Muslim to Islamic parents and grandparents. During my childhood days the environment was such that there were no facilities to learn or practice Islam. I only started to read Quran after the age of 30 years old. Sykur Alhamdulillah till today I have been deligently praying 5 times and read the Quran regularly. The question now is how to have full concentration when performing salat. Sometimes I feel empty in heart after performing the salat for I do not know what I prayed.

2)How to improve my reading of the Quran?

Wassalam.

Answer:

Sayyidina `Umar (Allah be well-pleased with him and make him pleased) said the same thing about his own praying, due to his overwhelming concerns for the Ummah, which monopolized his concentration. However, in our own case, it is because Shaytan tries to steal away the treasures that Allah Most High places in our hearts from the lights of His Dhikr. Continue and persevere.

As for your second issue, give more time for reflection, even on a single Ayat of the Book of Allah, and it will be more helpful. Mawlana Shaykh Nazim emphasizes the latter, as opposed to just reading to finish the Qur’an.

Why did my ibada decline after ziyara?

Question:

Assalamu’alaykum yaa Sayyidi…

May I ask you another question? That is, after back from shafar to Lefke and Istanbul, I feel my ibadah (in general term) tended to decline, qualitatively and quantitatively. And I also make so many mistakes, though I tried to repentance and make istighfar. I also feel that the “light” is not as bright/strong as the condition the time I just back from the shafar.

The other thing is about my murakabah to Mawlana Syaikh Nadzim. When I met him and also after the shafar, it’s very easy to feel his presence and to have vision of his face and his whole body. The murakabah, according to my standard, is very clear and strong. But now it’s not like the previous condition. Is it because of I made so many mistakes? What should I do yaa Sayyidi? Please give me nasihah.

Syukron yaa Sayyidi…

was-Salaam,

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

What you described is because of two tests:

1- Being around Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, as Mawlana Shaykh Hisham explained many times – may Allah sanctify their souls – exposes one to the ambient spiritual problems of the people there and this carries consequences. It is the same as when one helps someone else with their spiritual obstacles, heaviness results because one takes them on. Hence, what our masters carry of other people’s difficulties is indescribable. Mawlana referred to this in several suhbas in which he mentioned the anecdote of Mawlana Jalal al-Din Rumi when he was asked: “Why are your murids so misbehaved?” He replied: “Because our zawiya is a bimaristan (mental asylum); if they had no need of guidance, they would not come here.”

2- The second reason is that in this Tariqa the spiritual veils are removed from the top down, not the other way around as in other Tariqas. Hence, any unveiling or miraculous experience is a step backwards, not forward as most of us think. When that is removed and the sweetness is no longer experienced, we think we have gone backward when in fact we are progressing.

So what you described is normal but you must grasp the lessons from that state and not let it play havoc on you; so many people come back with wrong demeanor and may even stop attending their local dhikr! Persevere and trust as mentioned in the last verse of Surat Al `Imran:

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱصۡبِرُواْ وَصَابِرُواْ وَرَابِطُواْ وَٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تُفۡلِحُونَ

{O ye who believe! Endure, outdo all others in endurance, be ready, and observe your duty to Allah, in order that ye may succeed} 3:200.

Prayer Request: Jins and Black Magic

Request:

bismillah ….. assalam …..
I have been following this blessed and interesting site.
Recently, we too have a problem. Someone was planting black magics in our houses. My daughter, was disturbed by jinns and she is staying with my x wife. We had asked Ustaz for help. Several of her jinns, old and new, had been removed. Some even converted to Islam. However, the culprits were planting more jinns. she was disturbed again. we are worried.

Everyday, we read Ayat Kursi about x 7 times, several times surah al Ikhlas, al Falaq and an Nas, dua, and zikir. we put taweez in our houses. We had asked Ustaz to ‘fence’ our houses.
please, Maulana and staff, pray for us. May Allah help us. Thanks in advance. My name is [private], from Malaysia.

Response:

wa `alaykum salam,
We are asking Mawlana Shaykh to pray for you all.

Follow the general prescription for protection from Jinn:

1. Recite the Du`a of Ayat al-Kursi once a day
2. Recite Ayat al-Kursi itself 3x a day
3. Have her to always wear the tawiz of Grandshaykh `Abdullah al-Fa’iz ad-Daghestani (q)

A ring with numbers

Question:

I bought a ring on Ebay from Turkey that has some numbers in Arabic. No one can tell me what it means as it is a 3 x 3 set of squares. I have written them in English below:
492
357
816

The seller listed it as an Islamic ring but cannot tell me the meaning as he doesn’t know and speaks very little English. I am assuming that it is a Taweez/Ruqiyya written in numerals and some on the internet refer to it as Buduh given to Imam Ghazali. Your help is very much appreciated as to what is the use of this. Thank you.

Answer:
This is a very widespread, basic wafq muthallath or three-per-side graph (plural: awfaq) with the same numerical value (in this case, 15) whichever of the eight combinations of the three directions you add up the numbers (horizontal, vertical and diagonal) that is drawn up and worn as medicine, among other uses, for:
– postpartum pain (placed under her two feet)
– infants and toddlers (worn around the neck or thereabout)
– milk-bearing (written in saffron and washed then drunk by the mother)
– milk-bearing for livestock (placed in the milking bucket)
– deliverance from jail (worn on one’s front, back, right and left sides, and underfoot).
And Allah knows best.

What to do with my spiritual name?

Question:
Assalamu’alaykum yaa Sayyidi,

May Allah shower you and yours with barakah more and more yaa Sayyidi...

When we were in Istanbul and met with Syaikh Mehmet, he gave us our spiritual name. My spiritual name from Syaikh Mehmet is Abdul Lathif. While in Lefke, I also got my spiritual name from Mawlana Syaikh Nadzim, that is Abdullah.

What should I do with my spiritual name yaa Sayyidi? Should I change my name with my spiritual name, especially when doing interaction with Bro/Sis in Naqsbandi Haqqani as some brothers do? Or, can I keep my name and only using my spiritual on certain occassion only? Please advise yaa Sayyidi…

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,

Amin and you also. Mawlana Shaykh Hisham one time said of spiritual names: “It is a code that can open a lot of heavenly doors, but it needs the permission from Mawlana Shaykh.” And another time he said: “It is for Akhira.” My advice is to continue with your awrad and meditate on your names. Then when you see Mawlana in person you can ask him if that is your wish, but silence is more effective.
