Zakat & deduction of mortgage payments

Question:

Salaam,

Are you able to deduct 12 months future mortgage payments as a zakat expense? I have a interest bearing mortgage and have been deducting the next 12 monthly installments (excluding interest). Is this correct?

Answer:

Alaykumussalam,

Your mortgage payments are a separate duty of yours to repay your debt. Such repayment does not meet the requirements of zakat because it would be like paying yourself the zakat, and then using that payment to repay your debt. Your deduction is therefore invalid and your zakat remains due.

Zakat and Pension asset valuation

Question:

Salaam,

How do you calculate the value of your zakatable pension assets?
I understand this is different to the actual value of the pension asset.

Answer:

As-Selamu ‘Aleykum,

There are two ways in which a pension can be funded:

1) Payments are deducted from a salary before it comes into the possession of the contributor.

2) The contributor makes payments from money that has already come into their possession.

If the payments are deducted from the salary at source, so that the money never comes into the possession of the contributor, no zakat is due on the payments, nor is it due on the amount that accumulates in the pension or provident fund.

Zakat will only become payable when money from the fund is paid out and received by the contributor.

If the pension payments are made after the money has come into the possession of the contributor, then zakat is payable on the money that accumulates in the fund.

Kab al-Ahbar and Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani

Question:

Ka’b al Ahbar was a tabiee if I recollect correctly, a convert from Judaism. He was a contemporary of Sayyidina Umar (r.a) but was not a Sahaba. So wondering A) when grandshaykh (q) says Mawlana is like Kab al Ahbar to whom does grandshaykh liken himself to (Sayyidina Umar r.a, perhaps?).

Answer:

The reference is to the literal meaning of ka’b as cube and ahbar as scholars and scribes. The meaning is you are the perfect scholar and scribe for me.

dream of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim

Dream:

Saw Mawlana Nazim Haqqani a few months back in a dream. I was taken by hand to their gathering by a slim and tall shaykh, whose face was not fully visible, but they had a long beard and were dressed in the green Naqshbandi attire. What Mawlana Nazim said to me is still a puzzle to date, i don’t know what they said was literal or were they referring to something else. Anyways, they held my hand in the dream and gave me advice. It has been some months since the dream came to me, I want to be connected to them so that they can guide me.

Interpretation:

salam alaikum,

The dream showed you a living representative of Mawlana Shaykh Nazim, namely
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani taking you by the hand, which represents baya.

In order to take baya, go to sufilive.com/baya and follow the instructions.

"Nun" and Ayat al-Kursi

Question:

Asa. I climbed a large mattress and came to a house where I was to help someone. I see a stand in the kitchen holding a plate.I see Ayat al-Kursi and the letter Nun and another ayat I do not know. I said to myself that Nun contains ayat al-Kursi or vise versa.

Answer:

Nun refers to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani and saying Nun contains Ayatul-Kursi means Mawlana Shaykh Nazim carries the secret of Ayatul-Kursi as represented by the ayah you don’t know, which represents Imam Mahdi (as) who holds Khamis al-Quran, the Secret of Quran. Allahu `alam.

Dream of lion

Question:

I have seen this dream multiple times. 2 lions, or 2 tigers always try to enter my house or building. I always close the door to save myself. Please tell its interpretation.

Answer:

These are two great saints who are your guiding Shaykhs, either physically or spiritually (Uwaisi), seeking to attract your heart. Your closing the door means you’re doing something that prevents receiving their spiritual attraction. Allah knows best.
