Why should we argue with anyone?

Question:

Assalam Aliqum Ya Sheikhs!

I wanted to ask you that I have seen videos of some Sufi shaikhs criticizing Salafis, I thought Sufism meant Love towards all and hatred towards none, my question is that is it OK to criticize the Salafis ?

Please pray for Me
vasalam

Answer:

Wa`alaykumussalam

Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) and his Companions fought numerous battles
against the Mushriks – this is a historical fact. However, we learn that
Allah Almighty addresses him in the loftiest manner in the Qur`an,
giving him honour and highest stations. He is known as Al-Amin, for his
loving and caring qualities for his Ummah, and his yearning to
see his brothers – those who came after him who believe and love him
even though they’ve never met.

So what were the battles for? They were necessary to prevent the
attempted destruction of Islam – at that time – and, after establishing his governing authority, to uphold Truth and defend against enemies (some of whom were hypocrites who allied with the disbelievers). Other than those, there were no fighting, all is love.

So when Wahhabis/Salafis attack and attempt to destroy the glory and
sanctity of Islam, Iman and Ihsan, of Shari’ah, ‘Aqidah and Haqiqah,
are we to expect the “Wuthara’ al-Anbiya,” inheritors of the Prophets
(pbuh) especially the Sufi saints, to sit down, tie their tongues,
tug their tails and run?

Imagine an intruder in your home. What are we going to do? Let him
desecrate your property and violate your family? Or would you confront
him and pin him down in the name of defence and bring him to face
justice? You decide.
