Two questions

Question:

Assalamu Alaykum dear shaykh,

1) Last week I bought a book named, “Healing with the Prophet (SAW) medicines” written by Ibn Qayyim Al Jauziyyah. Is there any problem if I read it, as the author was not from the ahl al sunnah wal jamaah.

2) I saw a dream this morning that I saw a card which had two sides. On one side I saw a shaykh with green turban and written on that the shaykh takes all sins of his followers and on the other side it was written shaykh nur muhammad. Is there any real shaykh named nur muhammad?

Answer:

`Alaykum asSalam,
The author was from Ahl al-Sunna wal-Jamaa despite certain errors of his, so we ask mercy from Allah for him and we pray for him; most of his books show his Sufi and spiritual orientation and this particular work of his is full of benefits.

However, we wish to caution against the edition you have of that work, Healing with the Medicine of the Prophet which is the 1999 Darussalam edition and the least reliable, as that publishing house promotes other than the views of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama`ah.

We recommend that you obtain instead either the 1993 translation by Shaykh Muhammad al-Akili entitled Natural Healing with the Medicine of the Prophet (Philadelphia: Pearl Publishing House) or the 1998 translation by Penelope Johnstone entitled Medicine of the Prophet (Cambridge: Islamic Texts Society), and success is from Allah.
