Is consummation of marriage a condition for walima? If nikkah is performed during the day and valima dinner is also on that same day, is it valid?

Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
Majority of the scholars are of the opinion that walima is a feast held after the marriage has been consummated. This was the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
