Question:
Assalamualaikum,
I’m bayats at with syekh Gibril. Now I’m learning step by step path of Allah. Can I ask something? I received and email from sufilive about Mawlana’s request:
Alhamdulillah, Mawlana Shaykh Nazim is in good health. Mawlana is asking for everyone to please with each of your five prayers, pray an extra fard for him. For example, with Fajr prayer please do another Fajr prayer for Mawlana Shaykh Nazim. Please do this for 10 days to cover for the time that Mawlana was recovering.”
Why we must salat another rakaat? I never learned in Islam this such thing. Can you give me the explanation?
Answer:
Alaykum Salam, May Allah swt put blessing in your bayaa to Mawlana Shaykh Nazim (Allah bless his secret). That request was a while ago, when Mawlana was very sick and missed some prayers. A Sahabi asked the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) one time if it was OK to perform fardul Hajj and donate it to his mother (because she did not do it) and he said yes, do it. In the Shafi`i Madhhab such as in Brunei Darussalam this kind of donation is valid for all `ibadah including Salatul Fard. Therefore it is OK to pray fard a second time but for the niyyat of giving it to Mawlana, who is closer to us and more deserving of our birr than our own father and mother. And it was requested only for 10 days. But if we gifted him our lifetime of ajr and thawab (rewards) it would not be too much.
