I have been talking to this guy and alhamduillah everything was going well and then we decided that we wanted to get married and he told his parents but they hated me and I prayed salat istakhara everytime and I kept feeling like I should fight. He decided to give up and he just got engaged. May I please have permission to use this dua to get him back because I know he is the one for me. He only got engaged to the girl because his mom wanted him too not because he wanted too. I know being with him will make me a stronger person in Islam. I would like to know as soon as possible, and is this prayer only allowed on Thursday nights?

As you said he has made his decision and his parents have also decided. It is better for you to move on and not fight. Allah is Most Generous and can give you another excellent match out of countless possibilities. Recite Hasbiya Allah wa ni`ma al-Wakil x100 daily to that intention.
