Question:
Assalamu Alikum,
One of my co-employees requested me to ask about prayers missed since age ten. She became mature at 9 years old. Her parents did not teach her Islamic principles and she wants to make up her prayers, which she missed during 10 years or so. She does not remember how many prayers she missed, nor did she make them up. Now she is practicing feels she should make up all the prayers she missed over those years. How should she do that?
Salaams
Answer:
Wa `alaykum salam,
Many`Ulama are of the opinion that the person who has missed prayers in the distant past does not make them up now. The time of those prayers is over now. He/she can compensate for the missed prayers by sincerely repenting, seeking Allah’s forgiveness and by offering as many Nafilah prayers as possible.
