Dream:
Assalam alleikum wrwb,
In my dream I saw Sheikh Hisham and around us there were other people. I had a question for Sheikh Hisham that how is it we get close to Allah to feel Allah’s presence. I saw him get up and started to quickly fill up glasses full of water for people & I wondered why no one else got up to help then he gave me a glass of water & I asked him if I could help and he let me give to others. If I could understand the meaning thank you.

Bismi-llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm:
Wa `alaykumu s-salāmu wa rahmatu l-lāhi wa barakātuh ,
Mawlana Shaykh Hisham showed you in the dream that to get close to Allah (swt) and feel His (swt) Divine Presence, you have to serve His Creation.
When Sayyidina Abayazid al-Bistami (q) asked his Lord to open the door, he was making dhikr and muraqabah endlessly. Some awliyaullah associate with people, some sit alone and do dhikr and muraqabah, some don’t do anything, and some awliyaullah travel as Allah grants them what He wishes. Sayyidina Bayazid was doing dhikr and muraqabah, when he heard a Heavenly Voice ask:
“What did you do for Me?” He responded, “I did dhikr and muraqabah.” The Voice replied, “No, you did those things for yourself. What did you do for Allah?”
He said, “O Allah! Teach me.”
At that moment ilhaam, heavenly inspirations, flooded his heart, fa al-haamaha fujoorahaa wa taqwaaha, “Go serve My Creation as to guide people is an action you do for Me.”
