Question:
Assalaamu ‘alaikum Dear Shaykh,
A husband divorced his wife 3x as a joke whilst he was completely ignorant of the rules of divorce and the consequences of its utterance. MashaAllah they are happily married and they do not wish to separate.
Does the act of the husband mean that they must separate and that she must marry another man and consummate the marriage and get divorced before returning to her original husband? If so, it would be incredibly difficult for her to marry another man because she fears that her in-laws and her husband will not accept her back after another marriage. Also, the couple have very young children which she can not leave as it would break families ties and cause great chaos in the family. Is there another way out for her? Please help this sister.
