Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Question:

Assalamu aleikum,

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 2½ years ago. My whole life periods have been irregular, and during the last few years it hasn’t sometimes come for several months. Today I’m on my 10th day of period, I don’t know what to do. At day 6 it looked like it was going to end but didn’t. I know I have to keep my salats regular and I have to turn to Allah swt.

I have to make a lot of wudu when praying due to other female problem and that discourages me. I study at university, and I get so tired when I’m in school. I can’t study because I’m tired from nothing, and fail exams. I went on check-ups and the testosterone-level managed to decline. Today I got a referral-letter from my GP to a endocrinology-clinic. What if they give me pills, should I take them? I’ve been avoiding birth-control-pills that my doctor say would help.

Answer:

Wa Alaykum Salam,

Follow up with your physicians regarding your medical management and fatigue. Try to persevere through your challenges. You may recite HasbunAllahu wa n’am al-Wakeel 100 times or more daily for support along with salawat on the Prophet (s) as much as you like. And Allah knows best.

Abdul Karim
