Question:
As’salamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Recently our family has decided to start growing organic fruit and vegetables in our backyard. When we went to our local gardening centers, the only organic (stated) soil to purchase has a product/additive called “blood and bone”. It essentially crushed and in powdered form of bone meal and blood.
I’ve tried to contract the producer and they have stated they can use/source any combination of bovine, poultry or even pork as the “blood and bone” additive. Essentially what is available during the production phase.
My question is, would it be permissible for our family to use this organic soil which has this product/additive? Can my question please be answered from Hanafi and Maliki perspective. Jazak’Allah Khier

Soil is Halal. Allah (swt) made the whole earth a place of sajdah. Every thing goes back to earth to break down including fish, blood, bone-meal etc. as well. After this processes is over whatever you use as soil is Halal.
