Assalamu’alaikum,
A family is having huge debt and has no income for supporting their life expenses daily. They depend on others’s generosity.A friend of mine wants to give his zakat for them but he found out that family actually has more than 150 gram gold/silver as investment and they don’t want to use/sell it for hidden reasons. Could my friend give his zakat for them?Thank You.

Wa `alaykum salam,
If a person or his family have money, gold, silver or goods equal to nisab apart from their debts and essential needs, he is regarded to be rich. Such a person cannot receive zakat.
