I just wanted to ask when Mahdi (a.s) comes how will people be aware of his arrival as they are not in hajj. Will it be announced on t.v etc…

Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
From the teaching of our mashaykh, that when Mahdi makes his appearance, he will make takbir in the four directions, and that takbir, by Allah’s Support, will be heard by every believer from east to west and from north to south.
Shaykh Hisham said:
Sayyidina Mahdi, …is from that line of 12 Imams, and he will appear at minaratun bayda, the white minaret at Masjid al-Umawi (the Ommayad Mosque). He will make takbir from there and that takbir will stop the huge war that is going around the world in that time. That is according to the hadith:
“La taqumu as-sa`atu hatta taqtatila fi’atani `azheematani. Yakunu baynahuma maqtalatun `azheematun da`wahuma wahidah; The Hour will not appear until there will be two enormous groups fighting each other in a colossal battle and their issue is one…. [Sahih Bukhari, “Kitab al-Fitan” (13:8). Sahih Muslim, “Kitab al-Fitan” (1:57).].
Sayyidina al-Mahdi (as) will appear during the middle of that war and pull that secret out and everything will stop with his pronouncing: Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar. Then on the second takbir, with Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, every believer will find himself in Damascus with Mahdi (as). Then the 3rd time Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, he will declare his intention to go to get amanaat al-muqadassah of Prophet (s) in Istanbul. Then he will declare that the Dajjal has appeared in the area of a big mountain that is near Sham called Douma and that is the hadd (limit) that Dajjal cannot pass because Sayyidina Jibril (as) will put his wing there and he cannot pass that limit.
