Question:
1) Can a women remove unwanted hair in their private regions by another non-Muslim women by laser? And if the lady is Muslim?
2) Is it permissible for a women to thread and shape the eyebrows for the husband? (please elaborate from hadith/sharia ruling
Answer:
1. A woman can remove unwanted hair in her private area by the help of another woman if it is the only way to do. It is disliked but permissible because there is nothing specifically mentioned about this in Qur’an or Hadith. Allah knows best.
2. Only plucking the eyebrows is haram, because the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) cursed those who practice it. This is based on the hadith of ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ood (r.a.) who said: “Allah has cursed the woman who does tattoos and the one who has them done, the woman who plucks eyebrows, and the one who has it done, and the one who files her teeth fro the purpose of beauty, altering the creation of Allah.” (Bukhari 5931, Muslim 2125)
