Assalaamualaikum Shaykh.
I’ve been married now for 12 years with 3 kids. my spouse is very abusive emotionally and verbally with me and physically with our kids. He also has had numerous affairs. But can I ask for a divorce and will Allah be displeased.
Answer:
Affairs are a major sin in Islam; it is adultery, one of the kabaa’ir. Abuse is also something you should not put up with. You should seek a divorce from him and if he refuses seek the assistance of your local imam for khula`.
