Childhood vaccinations

Question:

Assalam’alaikoum Wr Wb
Peace & Blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad (s) and his ummah. Long life and good health to Mawlana and his entire family. Amin.

I have learned that Mawlana discourages vaccinations such as against the flu, chicken pox, etc. Prior to learning this, my children had already received the standard (North American) childhood vaccinations (including Meales, Mumps, Rubella, Dipthteria, Whooping Cough, Tetanos, Polio). We are required by the schools to show proof of vaccination. I recently received such a request regarding my child’s vaccination (usually given between age 4-6). My child is now almost 7. Although we do not get the flu and chicken pox vaccines (which are “optional” here) I wonder about whether I should have my child receive the standard childhood vaccine D.Pa.T.P. (“Quadracel”) which is now overdue. Thank you for your advice.
Shukran.
Wassalam.
