Question:
Can you please let us know, if money from Zakat can be loaned for Masjid construction? Loan does not mean permanent donation, loan here means for a specific time period only. Then the money will be returned back to the Zakat handling person.
Answer:
It is not lawful to give or take the amount of Zakat or sadaqah on loan neither for the mosque nor for other jobs but it is wajib (obligation) on the wakils of zakat (Zakat handling persons) that they should spend it on their masraf (poor and needy).
