Question:
Dear Shaykh Taher Siddiqui, Assalamu alaykum,
Thank you for interpreting my dream titled ‘Trying to leave’. You say I must not avoid my father, but what you do not know is that he told me to sleep with him when I was 38 years old and I do not like the way he looks at me at times. If I dress Islamically in his presence, he tells me off, saying the clothes are too loose and if I dress more Western style, he will act like he is very Islamic and make me feel that I should wear more Islamic clothes. I hate him. He and my hypocrite mother have driven me mad. I am Schizophrenic because of them. They won’t let me be me. I live in fear. What can you say please?
My humbles apologies for lack of adab.
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
If you don’t provide accurate information I’m afraid you can’t expect a reasonable response.
It sounds like you had good reasons to fear your father and avoid him. Insha-Allah Allah sends you a good husband who will support you in recovering from the emotional trauma you have suffered.
Try to forgive your parents and regenerate love to them and ask Allah to guide them to real belief and real practice and save them from shaytan’s grasp, especially in the twilight of their lives.
Taher Siddiqui
