Assalamu Alaykum,
I heard that Imam Shafii (R) said that if you have impurities inside your nails, you should clean it as it is considered as a part of the shart of wudu. Please explain?

Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
If impurities under nails prevent water from reaching skin beneath then wudu is invalid. The same applies for ghusl.
