Question:
Assalaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu,
When I read this I got some questions:
“…As for the believing men, as one of the Awliya said, some of them will need ghusl just for hearing the verse {Same-age young-bosomed girls} (78:33). As for us hard-hearted analphabets we may read it and read it without effect.” (http://mac.abc.se/~onesr/f/Sex_w.slaves.a.women.html)
1 When reading the verses/ahadith about the maidens of paradise I feel a big desire and in a matter of seconds (forgive my bad manners) I end up with an erection. Is it OK to remember myself of the maidens, to think about the hoor al-‘ayn to motivate me to worship Allah more, even if this happens?
2 The same thing happens sometimes while reciting Quran at those verses. Is it the purpose of these verses to evoke such emotions? Can I then continue reciting?
May Allaah reward the whole staff!
Answer:
wa `alaykum salam,
Yes. Imam Ghazali addressed this in his book on sex and marriage which is available in translation at al-Baz Publications.
