Prayer during Azaan

Question:

Assalam o alaikum
I have a very important question as many people argue over it. I want to know if its allowed to start praying when the azaan has just started?
I’m confused because on one hand I have heard since childhood that we should listen to azaan & repeat after it,then how can we start praying without letting azaan finish?

On the other hand, it can also be said that since the “time” of prayer has started & the moazzin is already calling us,we can immediately start praying after his first “Allah ho akbar , Allah ho akbar”.
What is better?
Thank you.

Answer:

wa `alaykum salam,
Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri (R) reported that the Blessed Prophet (S) said:

“When you hear the call for prayer, say the same words as the Mu’adhdhin”.

Therefore, the listeners should repeat the text of the adhan. We should not start praying without letting the adhan finish.
