Adab in dream

Question:

As-salamu-alaykum,
I apologise for my lack of adab.

In a dream, all of my family went to meet Mawlana Shaykh to his house. In the masjid above, all of us sat on the floor with Mawlana. I was very open in speaking about my worries with Mawlana Shaykh. I may have spoken too much in excitement. Mawlana Shaykh told me off for the lack of my adab. I regretted & cried and asked him to forgive me. I said that I didn’t mean to be outspoken; I was just too excited…Later, Mawlana looked at my sister and said that he had taken charge of me. [In real life, I am quiet and introvert and normally never say anything in front of my Shuyukh but often in my dreams, I am very open and very comfortably speaking to the shuyukh – Why?]

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,

Dream teaches two realities of guidance, namely that only good comes from shyness and it is the superior adab; and secondly, that Mawlana’s guidance and apprisal of our states precedes our requests to him and is not in need of our own expositions.
