I am going through difficult times and while upset I slept and saw my late father who put his hands on my shoulders and said “listen carefully do 5000 nafl.”
Does it literally mean 5000 nafl ?

Waalaykumussalam,
One day in the divine presence is as 50,000 of our years (Surat al-Ma`arij 70:4). So 5,000 points to a tenth of a day. Do all your fard and sunnas including tahajjud, shuruq, duha, awwabin and daily wazifa such as reading the khatm, one juz‘ of the Qur’an and one hizb of Dala’il al-Khayrat. It will take just over an hour which Allah will multiply because it is for His sake. He will dispel anger, remove difficulties and keep you near Him and His angels in sha Allah.
