Dream:
I was sitting in prayer at night facing towards the Holy Kaabah with the full moon totally illuminating the sky in blue light above me. I thought how could this be, knowing that I am facing Qiblah and not praying to the moon. Then I realized that the moon had also been praying with me. The day before I had a discussion with my kids advising them that as Muslims we do not pray in any other direction than the one facing towards Kaabah, so as not to be confused that we might be praying towards the sun, moon, or stars.
Assalamu Alaikum.
Interpretation:
Wa `alaykum salam,
{Blessed is He Who made constellations in the skies, and placed therein a Lamp and a Moon giving light;} Al-Furqan [25:61]
As our Naqshbandi masters teach, the moon in the dream represents Sayyidina Muhammad (s) as he is the only True Servant of Allah and therefore his sajda is the only truly valid one. The rest of creation are making sajda on his pattern, but without attaining his perfection. May Allah grant you and us to be imitators of Sayyidina Muhammad’s perfect servanthood (`ubudiyya).
{Seest thou not that to Allah bow down in worship all things that are in the heavens and on earth,- the sun, the moon, the stars; the hills, the trees, the animals; and a great number among mankind? But a great number are (also) such as are fit for Punishment: and such as Allah shall disgrace – None can raise to honour: for Allah carries out all that He wills} Al-Hajj [22:18]
