Rahmani Dream

Question:

Assalam aleykoum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh,

The prophet Muhammad (salallahu ‘aleyhi wa salam) said : “He who attaches his lineage to one other than that of his father or ascribes himself to other than his ex-masters, the curse of Allah, the Angels and all the people are on him; Allah will not accept any of his deeds or justifications on the Day of Judgment.”
(Muslim)

If a Muslim sees his own ancestry in dream, is it a true ancestry or he has no right to believe in it because of doubts (and no evidences in real life) ? How can a Muslim recognize a true dream?

Barakallahu fikoum adjmaine!

Best regards.

Answer:

Alaykum Salam,
Dreams are acceptable usually only by the one who sees them and if true are usually confirmed by external or factual signs as well. They may be sent just as a private good tidings, not as a basis to alter one’s family name.
