Is a nikkah valid without parents agreement and should the two wanting to get married notify their parents before deciding to do nikkah?

Marriage is a from of ibadah (worship) as we want to follow the lifestyle of the Prophet (pbuh). He did not have parents at the time he married his wives but sought the consent and blessings of his elders before embarking on this sacred duty.
The Malikies, Shafiies and Hanbalies take a hadith about necessity to have permission from a guardian as evidence that such a marriage shall be null and void.
