Is permission required from 1st wife before planning to marry a 2nd wife as per Islam?
I am not looking to marry a 2nd wife but would like to know from a knowledge perspective, as this question does come up a lot in discussions.

Alaykum Salam,
The second marriage would be valid and no sin would be incurred if done without consultation with the first wife, but it would not be a recipe for success.
