Narrations Authenticity

Question:

What is the source and authenticity of this hadith and the hukm of acting upon it?
On the authority of ‘Abdullah ibn al-Hasan (r.a.), ‘Ali (k.w.) stated that Allah’s Messenger (s.a.w.) once said, “If someone performs two cycles of ritual prayer reciting in one of the two cycles the last part of Surah al-Furqan, from ‘Tabaaraka alladzii ja’ala fii as-samaa’i buruujan’ until he reaches the end of the surah, then starting into the second cycle, and reciting in it, after al-Fatihah, from the beginning of the Surah al-Mu’minin until he reaches ‘Fatabaaraka Allahu Ahsanu al-Khaaliqiin,’ he will be safe from the double-dealing of the jinn and of humanity.” (From this site).

Jazakum Allahu Khayran.

Answer:

Yaghnum bin Salim is accused of forging that report as shown in Ibn `Arraq’s Tanzih al-Shari`a and al-Shawkani’s al-Fawa’id al-Majmu`a.

As for acting on it with the knowledge that it is forgery: the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) said “Whoever reports a narration from me when it seems to him (wa-huwa yura) that it is falsehood, he is one of the kadhibin/kadhibayn” (Sahih Muslim). It is narrated both in the plural [he is one of the liars] and in the dual [he is one of the two liars]. And he said: “Whoever attributes a lie to me, let him take his seat in Hellfire” (mass-transmitted).

So it should never be attributed to the Prophet (upon him blessings and peace) but reciting those verses is of course beneficial in itself in unqualified terms.
