Assalamo Alaikum,
We all know that we ordinary Muslims can consume the meat of an animal slaughtered for aqiqa. But can Sayyad, the descendant or progeny of Prophet Muhammad sallalaho alaihi wasallam consume the same? I have heard that the aqiqa meat is a sadaqa of a child to relieve the child from suffering and the sayyads cannot take or consume sadaqa. Is it correct?

Wa`alaykumussalam,
It is permitted for Ahl al-Bayt to consume, as ‘Aqiqah is not sadaqah.
