Business agreement between a doctor and a reputed drug company is halal or haram

Question:

I want to make a business contract and thereby earn money by prescribing drug of a reputed company. It will not be target based, price and quality will be acceptable, prescribe as per indication, always consider the patients interest. Will it be halal?

Answer:

Such side income is halal provided:
(i) medical employers are aware of and consenting to these marketing practices between their doctors and outside pharma contractors; and
(ii) doctors continue to prescribe the appropriate drug motivated by the criteria and guidelines cited in the question, i.e. ikhlas and sidq, rather than the motivation of profit.
And Allah knows best.
