Is it permissible to donate plasma (for monetary compensation), which would be used by pharmaceutical companies to make prescription drugs? It is different than donating blood, which you don’t get any money for here in Canada.

wa `alaykum salam,
All organs and parts of a human, including blood, is sacred, and to derive a benefit from it without a big need is unlawful. Also, to derive benefit from something impure is unlawful as blood when taken out becomes impure.
