It is halal to work in a methadone clinic whose ultimate goal is detoxification of its patients. It is worship, a fard kifaya, and a praiseworthy and merciful act to help a fellow human being to gradually wane themselves from addiction to a destructive intoxicant no matter how long the process might take or how repetitive it might be.
